When do we expect the heat to start moderating today?

38c here bang on!!!!!

Pretty much guaranteed the UK's first ever back to back 100F days, as well as the all time UK record looking very likely to fall today, tomorrow or both days!

Today is also only the third 38C+ day on record. All of them in the last 20 years.

This is also the first 100F day that hasn't featured a breakdown in the evening.

Cambridge still 38C at 1520Z, no 39Cs on the METARs yet. Presumably no record between hours as yet or the Met would have tweeted.

Wednesday 

(Aberdeen being more coastal was at 27⁰C. Could it reach 30⁰ tomorrow? If it does I think that would be a record)

Highest temp shown on my weather station today was 35.4c - I suspect that's a slightly high reading as although it's a covered sensor it does record high in the sun.

Currently 26.6c indoors with the temp still rising. I don't think temps will drop noticeably until quite late this evening so imagine house will be around 25/26c in the morning before the heat builds again. Deep joy

We got to 99 and cloud moved in... its since moved on and climbed again

It's the sheer number of stations at or above 36C that is amazing. Not just a few in the SE but a couple of dozen right up to the Midlands and beyond.

Temperature is still climbing here after I thought we had peaked early afternoon. Now 33.8C under intense sunshine.

Not as soon as the models had it doing so, that's for sure. Still 35.6C here, having been hovering around 35C for hours on end now.

It has to start ticking down soon, of course, but it'll be slow..

32.4c @ 4.50pm and still slowing ticking up here. I suspect the peak will be 5.15pm before a very very slow decline. 

A sultry night ahead for sure. Not dropping below 25c all night in Central London according to BBC Teletext. Ugghh.

This ammeatur station in cambridge seems to be a good proxy for the official one.

After stagnating, its now back on the rise and showing 38.8C

Looks like 36 C has been reached there

Unusual that it's hotter in Folkestone than here. Currently 31.8c

Not long till the 5pm readings. Now or never for today I think - and the silence from the Met Office so far suggests no record just yet.

Still rising here in fierce sun, to 34.1C

Looks like I spoke too soon as well. It peaked at 34.1°C at about 15:45, then cloud and even a light shower passed through, dropping the temperature to 32.9°C. Now, it's cleared again and back up to 34°C in the last 20 minutes. This is incredible!

I think its done for me, we got to around 36C an hour or so ago but cloud is stopping it from going any higher.

Now about 35C

Most dickish comments from people with union jacks next to their name. Most will be cretinous climate change deniers
