I'm in Hadleigh, Essex at 73mtr asl

MetO are forecasting 34c max, whilst the Beeb are going for 37c. Time will tell

Looking at the radar there has been a train of showers across the south on and off for a while.

I am only just to the north of you and no sign of any rain yet, clear blue skies to the north but a bit of cloud visible to the south and west. Temperature has plateaued a bit here, 31.4C now.

27.3 / 13.3, the rate of climb continues as it has done since 7am, no plateauing just yet here.

My PWS over reads the temperature by a degree or a little more because of its sheltered position and proximity to buildings.

A couple of local stations on Wunderground showed 31c and 32c but not sure how accurate they are.

Yes, we look in Pole position for some .... it seems to be drifting North Eastwards.

This  isn't "in the script" and will be bound to peg temps back  !!

I wish I could hit the fast forward on the next 48 hours. Seems that only Darren P and I hate these conditions

Are you posting from the future? It's not even midday yet and it's 34C+ in places. Not to mention that tomorrow is meant to be the 40C+ day, not today.

Cloud thickening further, temp down by a degree to 30.5. Very oppressive feel to the air outside now.

I wonder if those showers are there to try to stop UK from getting the record? It not forecasted and the extreme heat in France would be blacked by this.

Lagging a few degrees behind some as expected, we look to have just pushed over the 30C mark which is a little bit ahead of what is forecast for this time

Probability of 40 now being pitched at 50%. I guess we’ll have to wait and see but I doubt it will happen.
