Spain cases pass 2,000

New health ministry figures say roughly half are in the Madrid region, where two-thirds of the virus deaths have occurred.

There are 2,002 cases nationally, up by 363 from the previous day. Deaths reached 47, up 11 from Tuesday.

This is a superb budget in terms of mitigating economic impacts of the virus.

Can’t stand the Tories, or this Chancellor, but I have to say i’m impressed so far.

Can't see how european football competitions will be completed this season. Getafe are refusing to fly to Milan to play Inter and Roma have been told that Spain won't allow their plane to land for their match against Seville.

I reckon they'll cancel all competitions.

And this is the problem, the point at which people are finally no longer being complacent it's already too late. If most companies had started to prepare in January then they would be all able to implement it by now.

We finally have a paper on the half life of the virus on surfaces.

The good news is that it doesn't survive significantly longer than SARS (except on cardboard). My recommendation is to leave a product for 24 hours (preferably in a heated area) before you use it to ensure you don't pick up the virus.

Immediately a national protocol to extend the use of tocilizumab, an anti-arthritis drug, in patients infected with coronavirus and in critical conditions. This was asked by the oncologist Paolo Ascierto, from Pascale di Napoli: "The drug has proven to be effective against Covid-19 pneumonia".

In Naples, he explains, "the first 2 patients were treated in Italy, in 24 hours the therapy showed excellent results and tomorrow one of the 2 patients will be extubated because his condition has improved. Yesterday, the treatment started for 2 other people and today we will deal with two more ".
