Surely you would need to factor in the population of the country? There are twice as many people living in Japan so perhaps (by your definition) a major outbreak in the UK would be when we have 105 cases and 2 deaths. I'm sure the government will have a definition too but I have no idea what that is.

Just to fire up our resident regiment, the Cabinet Office has contacted local authorities about mass graves in the (worst scenario) case of excessive numbers of deaths.

This is not unprecedented (same planning existed for the 2009 avian flu virus).

Agreed, the evidence and spread is certainly suggesting this may be the case. Its going to decimate the football season I suspect. But the correct approach.

As things stand today we have just over 1000 new cases and 2800 recoveries

There have been twice as many deaths in the UK and I've not seen it in the news once.

"NHS staff have now been asked to shave their beards to allow face masks to fit more securely."

  • good idea, but what about those who have cultural or religious reasons for facial fungus?

What a bizarre thread this has become. I would be amazed if Covid-19 did not continue to spread, it's what viruses do.

I'd also be very (pleasantly) surprised if the number of deaths associated with this virus does not reach at least double figures in the UK in coming months. Again that would be norm for more established pathogens.

Israel are taking this very seriously. Anyone who has visited Italy in the last 14 days is mandated to self quarantine for 2 weeks. They have also ordered similar quarantines for those who have visited China, South Korea, Japan, Macau, Singapore and Thailand.
