Homepage today talks of @tropical Saturday' tomorrow; I have already mentioned on MOD the consistent signal for exceptionally warm nighttime conditions overnight (tonight). Could it be the warmest October night on record in places?

I can tell you the strong winds at the moment are accompanied by increasing temperatures: up from 19 when I got home to 20 now. Feels very muggy out and odd, given the leaves blowing in all directions, the gathering dusk and the general autumnal feel.

If tomorrow gets 26 in those winds, it will indeed feel like tropical stuff. I think we are all about to enjoy a memorable marvelous weather moment.

20 degrees here in Chichester...incredibly balmy ...one could easily sit outside and eat...

I think that we had better get used to what we have been seeing with cold airs off Greenland helping build mighty icelandic lows ( augmented by 'cane remnants) as they meet with the balmy sub tropical airs (fed up by our new resident High Pressure neighbour).

I , for one, will not be surprised if we see some record low pressures recorded from such beasties!

The resulting 'trailing fronts' (that we are becoming ever more used to seeing) are also marking out atmospheric rivers and woe betide anyone stuck under one for days on end!

I like the warmth but I don't fancy the rain!

Temperature has levelled off at 20°C (20.1 actually) and the wind strength has increased. It feels disorientating outside. July night.

The 17C minimum of 1985 is sure to be exceeded if yesterday's Arpege is right. Arpege a bit slow on publication earlier; I'll go and have a look now.

The highest UK October minimum on record is 19.4C recorded on 1 October 1985 in Wales. The highest minimum in England for October is 18.6C. We could get very close to that.

Currently 21.4C at Heathrow

I've just travelled up from Cornwall to Derbyshire to see family. From Exeter eastwards the temperature just kept on rising. On the cars thermometer the temperature stayed between 17-19c.
Does anybody know what the record for the October overnight temperature is?

just read the thread above.... Question already answered..

Still 17.5C with rain showers here in Manchester. It feels like a humid, wet summer's night rather than an autumn night.

Windy and drizzly rain - the lowest nighttime min in Exeter was 18.8c on 8th July if I remember so we could be on par of that min! But this is October for heavens sake!! Crazy to think some could record the warmest nighttime minimum throughout the whole year but in October!?

No records here since we are on the so-called "cold" side of that weather front here in Scotland but even at that, we're still not getting to below 14°C here in Edinburgh in that so-called "cooler" air.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Currently still 19.8C at St James Park so the October high minimum record looks like it may be broken.

Most stations I believe use 9GMT - 9GMT (so, at the moment, 10BST); hopefully some warmer places yesterday morning were warming up by then- although our 19s here didn't start until the afternoon. Somewhere in the London area maybe, with a warm night yesterday night?

Fingers crossed.

Incredibly warm morning, 20C here now. This is proper autumn damp plume stuff, latent heat of condensation warming the air.

Tried to convince the family to go to the seaside today but didn’t manage.
