As it stands it will come in as the 6th strongest ever recorded hitting the Concus!!!

In the Pan Handle!!!

They appear to have noted a 9mb drop in 1 Hour!

A drop of 24mb over a 24hr period is 'bombing' for a storm so what would such a drop be? Thermonuclear????

So this Michael is not far off a cat 5?

How come it's not getting any BBC news Coverage ? Unlike Florence which hit land at a cat 1....!? Got so much attention!?

If the lines on this map are correct then Michael just made landfall.

This will be 'reassessed' after it passes and it will be a cat5 storm. Some folk are now posting a 917mb with 155mph winds ( 157mph is cat5)

CNN just had a rebar fence bent flat by the gusts....... it wasn't presenting much surface area to the winds but they still bent it like plastercine!

Well if the eye wall had to go somewhere then the best place would be an area of low population.

Which is precisely what it did as it passed over Tyndall AFB.

Gray-Wolf

Yup Smerc! the rest just had 120mph winds to contend with!

Daughter sat with me from just prior to landfall so she has earned her " watching U.S. new channel" and " first major hauling ashore" wings...... there are time I'm almost pleased I had her........ and then I remember what I'm watching and what she has in store in her 'weather life'.......

Joke guys , joke!!!

If any remnants of Hurricane Michael does make it to our shores later on down the line as an ex-tropical system, I think it should be named Fish as a one off thing given what happened on this week 31 years ago - then it can be called Michael-Fish.

So it reached a top end cat 4 at its peak with 155mph winds (just 1mph short of Cat 5). Tbh based on the presentation and flight data I suspect it will be revised to a cat 5. In fact I'm really surprised it was only considered to be a cat 4.

I have seen a clip of a video filmed yesterday at that airbase east of Panama city with similar winds as that 155mph gusts - I'm desperatly seeking/ waiting for the full video to be uploaded.
