CET ticked up somewhat yesterday. But still the coldest start to September since 1965 when the CET was just below 12C after the first week if I recall correctly.

I'm not surprised it's so low because in my neck of the woods the so called warmer spell only arrived today.  Some parts of the country may have had some warm sunshine but it's been cool and cloudy all week here in the East Midlands.

Here is the latest CET update. After a very cold start to September the CET is gradually recovering and should get back above 13C. But no sign of it reaching average. So looks like we could see another below average month.

The provisional Hadley data is a heap of rubbish. As often happens with the provisional data it has failed to properly pick up the cold night time minimums we have had this month. On the 8th my CET reading was as low as 12.06C whereas Hadley was at 12.8C. So expect some huge downward adjustments at the end of the month.

Definitely a possibility and any westerlies are still going to be quite cool thanks to the body of cold water to our west. Any warmth being forecast keeps getting downgraded too. This weeks temperatures for example are now looking very average for the time of year.

The MetO negative anomaly has declined by half a degree in the last few days but it has been cold here at times (Manchester) and I have had to put the heating back on. I assume it must have been much warmer further South because the nights have not been particularly mild either?

Average low  for the last 13 days   is 6.8c.   Also the 6th had the lowest at 6.8c.   Highest low on the 12th of  11.1c... In my patch.....
