The above picture - I was going to try and put a description on it - It won't let me - So I'll post it here.
This was one in a series of severe thunderstorms to hit the Cambridge area on Saturday 25th August 2012. I took this picture just after returning from Cambridge city this afternoon after experiencing one of the most severe storms I have known in this country. This picture here I took outside my front door - about 20 seconds after I took this picture there was a large flash of lightning. The cloud formation here is a cumulonimbus base - The bladerunner cloud effect is caused by intense downdraughts in the cloud itself - That is normal with this type of storm.

Nicely captured Gavin with a good explanation.
Thanks for the compliments chaps.
There was quite a lot of flooding in Cambridge city centre as reported in our local newspaper - I am not suprised - It was quite frightening.
