Good to see the stats table has proved its worth
Ive still got three in the hunt for places. McDowell, Watson, Oosty
I've got McDowell (33-1) & Zach Johnson (66-1) right up there - pity about Johnson's 74 yesterday
Duffner (40-1) was looking like he could get near the places too after R2 but faded today. Luke Donald's (20-1) flattered to deceive. If either GMc or Johnson get in the top 5, I've got around my cash back. If both do, I've more than doubled it.
I'm in a quandary though. Half of me wants Scott to blow up tomorrow to give Mcdowell or Johnson a win - but the other half fears that if he does, it'll be that shithouse Woods who nips in to bag the victory. And I can't stand Woods.
Ernie Els wins! Scott collapsed with four straight bogeys, quite astonishing Ernie not over par in any of his rounds this week, so credit where credit is due

Good solid golf from Ernie this week. After his birdie on the 14th Scott only needed pars to win and really shouldn't have missed the putt on 15th........if only golf were that easy

Congrats to Ernie Els and hard luck to Adam Scott. The latter should have won it IMO but that's golf for you sometimes. He's not the first to have thrown away a decent lead towards the end of the final round of the Open. Kevin mentioned Greg Norman above, but anyone remember what happened to Jean Van De Velde at Carnoustie in 1999?

I suppose he should, having had the 54 hole lead, but you have to produce the goods over four days, not three, and Ernie did just that, so IMO Ernie deserved it for playing consistent, solid golf throughout, which is exactly what needs to be done around Lytham.
I do indeed remember Van De Velde! Not pretty! Scott's collapse not as bad but not far off, unfortunately for him!
Cant believe Els managed to win, that crumble at the end will live with Scott for a while. He will do very well to keep it out his mind next time he is in contention in a major.
My five £1 e/w bets cost me £10 and I got £15.25 back.
Retirement will have to wait!
I got 3/4 of my money back through mcdowell.
FWIW Els was highlighted via the stats, but overlooked
McDowell dropping right back to -2 allowed me to get a completely undeserved return on my Luke Donald e/w too. Biggest frustration was with Zach Johnson, who got right back into contention at -5 after R3. I had him at 66-1.
That's the first time I've bet on golf in about 20 years, so it was pretty exciting to have 4 of my 5 picks very much in contention at the halfway stage.
PS - also backed Uruguay at 8-1 to win Olympic gold in the footy
