I have always thought that with Murray it is a case of when he keeps his temper in check, he plays really well. But, whenever things go against him and he starts to lose his cool, his game more often than not suffers. McEnroe back in his day still seemed to be able to play well even during matches when he had his famous rants against the match umpire; maybe he was just better at handling a lot of pressure and expectation.
A very rare opportunity for me to watch a full match I thought that Murray played exceptionally well against the acknowledged World No.1 clay court specialist, and someone who's made winning the French Open a bit of a habit. He still has a little bit to learn, there no question, especially in his head (as I and many others have mentioned before) but just a couple of missed oppurtunities and this match would have taken a totally different complextion. Personally I think that Murray has moved up another gear and if only he can stop niggling with his team on court and focus just a little more on what he's doing on court he's going to make the breakthrough from also ran, to winner
Edit: No disgrace for him today

Who cares how well he played?...he got beat that's the main thing
Nope...Seconds actually
Two down....er......two to go.
Todays French Open final has demonstrated how much closer Murray is to to the three above him in the world are. Plenty to be hopeful about if we're looking for a British champion IMHO
I agree, he is closer than ever and the grass will be his best chance this year. In any other era I am sure he would have already won a grand slam, sadly his first few years at the top have come at a time when we have had the two best players of all time.
Who's this guy then?

Through to the semis at Queens, and he's properly British, ie, from England

Murray obviously has and always had a reasonably good chance of winning this, but Roddick still plays a good game and Tsonga having dismissed a tired looking Nadal will fancy his chances as well!

A bit of a masterclass from Murray today as he hammered Roddick 6-3 6-1....as well as I think I've ever seen Murray play
He started a little sluggishly at Queens, but having seen his destruction of Roddick today and having feared Tsonga as a challenger for the title, there's no question in my mind that Murray will win Queens.
Moving onto Wimbledon I think we may well see a very different Murray. His all round game, and in particular his serving and fitness levels are vastly improved, his post match interviews are more bouyant and personally I think he's started to believe in his undoudted talents. He also looks smarter on court which strangely affects people as it's an indication of being more businesslike.
I really can see Murray winning Wimbledon this year and although I wouldn't normally have a bet on tennis, with 6/1 widely available, I'm definately having a punt
They won't really have a choice will they?
True I just wondering schedule wise as they gotta go on to eastbourne next I think. Just wondering if they will have time to fit it in
