Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon (GMT) on Friday. Issued 0409z, 28/05/12.ECMWF: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1201.gifNortherlies cover the UK as the result of a high to the NW. There are further northerlies and NNW'lies out to day 10, with low pressure deepening to the east. By day 10 a low covers Ireland, with light winds over the UK.MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.gifMetO shows a high to the NW on days 5 and 6, resulting in northerlies and NNW'lies.GFS: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1201.pngNortherlies and NNW'lies cover the UK on days 5 to 7 due to a high to the NW. Much of the UK is affected by a col on days 8 to 10, with a very shallow low filling over the Midlands.GEM: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rgem1201.gifGEM has moderate northerlies due to a high to the NW.JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.gifThe Japanese run brings northerlies and NE'lies with a ridge to the NW.In summary, by the end of the week there will be a much fresher feel to the weather as northerlies spread across the UK. They'll be driven by a high to the NW and the high will persist for a few days. Thereafter, by the middle of next week, a col looks likely: this would bring the risk of heavy, slow-moving showers.
