Indeed David. Watched that on ESPN classic today actually (on penalties too the famous grobbelar wobble)

Chelsea should have been destroyed tonight. The most lucky winners in a while if u ask me.

Well I guess things even out, having lost to a non-goal to Liverpool & then denied by rank bad refereeing to Barcelona.

Very true. Thankfully, for you, Bayern's finishing was so woeful. Had normal German efficiency been in operation last night we wouldn't even be having this discussion. I cannot remember the last time I saw such a one sided CL final in normal time.

Indeed but that's football. When the result is decided by a jury giving marks for technical merit & artistic interpretation let me know. In the meantime, whilst the result is based on putting the ball over the goal line the winner was Chelsea.
Anyway you overlook that Chelsea had four key players out & were playing on Bayern's turf.

I'm sure you'll do OK in the Europa League. :-)

Indeed, the result is based upon putting the ball over the goal line. Presumably, the more balls you put over the goaline over a whole season to get results the more points you get. Which of course gains you qualification for the premier competiton if you finish sufficiently high enough. Oh wait, that can't be right can it?

As for the mindless Europa League, at least it will be a good opportunity to try our youngsters out. And we have some good ones. Hopefully, it will be under a new manager.

As you well know I labelled you that after your silly mouth once before so if your gonna come out and large it again use your own material, .......you know...all the foul names you have for other teams/players.

LOOK BACK through the threads all season and you will relise how silly you have been/look and the avatar tops it off PMSL talk about backfiring LOL

Let that be a lesson old lad, sometimes better to keep it shut.

Your lads did well this season, they finished top 4 and Uefa rules take that away from you like they did Everton, It's Unfair i admit,............I'd happily have Uefa Cup forever more now after that, nothing else matters

P.S If you meet a German side in the Europa Final the funny thing is I'd want Spurs to win as you would be against Germans.

Well I'm sure you would like to re-write the qualification rules because Spurs has been denied entry. I understand that - but as UEFA recognised after Liverpool won, it's daft not to have the winners having the chance to defend their title.

Why the illogical rejection of Redknapp? It amuses me how short supporters' memories are! Do the players not bear most of the responsibility for the dreadful loss of form in the second half of the season?

I feel sorry for Tottenham - and would much rather they were in the Champions League than a team composed of a Russian billionaire's toyboys - but they really should have clocked up some convincing wins towards the end of the season instead of a series of lacklustre draws. Then their fate would have been in their own hands, and they wouldn't have had to depend on West Brom letting in that third Arsenal goal or Bayern missing a couple of penalties.

Back to the actual match.......

I am a Man U fan, Chelsea are not one of the prem teams that i have much time for due to the way they play football and a certain Russian Billionaire. However i didnt want a German team lifting the trophy either especially against an English side. Chelseas defenders were magnificent last night along with the tireless Drogba (a player who i very much admire) all the team work so hard for each other it was a fantastic display of teamwork. Bayern had plenty of chances however they rarely did carve chelsea wide open. For all the Bayern posession they rarely posed a real threat to the chelsea goal.

Congratulations to Chelsea !! Champions League winners 2012 !!!

Really??

You could say that about most sides dropping silly points, Arsenal, drooped daft points at home to Norwich late on, lost at home to Wigan, lost at Blackburn after being 3-1 up, lost away to QPR. The league is over 38 games and it always ends in if's,but's and maybe's. I am not saying this because it is Spurs but it is the way it is, we would all like our teams to win every game but it just isn't possible.

I am actually disappointed Spurs haven't made the CL, not being in it will allow to focus on the PL more which will give them a distinct advantage over teams trying to make the top 3 or 4 . For me I look forward` to getting out of the group stages then getting knocked out the next round.

Indeed!  Their defensive performance alone earned them the trophy. Ashley Cole - outstanding. As they did with Barcelona, they simply snuffed them out, and it was down to the inept German 'strikers' that when they DID manage to pierce their defence they were hopeless, chance after chance wasted - and you simply cannot do that at this level. Simply - the Germans didn't deserve it.  Compare that to Drogba - his chances were few, but that was all he needed - his goal was sublime, and it lifted this Liverpool fan out of his seat!! So Jonesy it is only right that you milk it for all its worth. To lift the European Cup by beating the Germans in their own back yard - it can't get much better. Great for British football too - It was so good to see the forced smiles on Platini's face. And let's face it - when they come to defending their title next year, they've got more chance of doing that, than Spurs would have had of making it out of the Group stages!

jonesy's posts are hilarious. well done chelsea, let them enjoy the moment :) spurs fans of course wanted bayern to win, and if the shoe has been on the other foot it would have been the same story also. a great final, lots of spurned opportunities by a very nervous bayern, and some great chelsea penaties, excluding mata's (btw luiz's penalty was awesome!)

I wouldn't bet on that. Spurs will have a weaker squad next season. Modric and maybe Bale will be off. I doubt we'll now get either Remy or Vertonghen. Things are not looking good.
