Just watched the Barca/AC Milan game with my landlord here in Copenhagen (he is a fanatical Barca supporter). As a dispassionate observer though, I couldn't help but feel sorry for AC Milan, since they were playing against 12 men!

The second penalty awarded to Barcelona just after AC Milan had equalised was in no way a fair decision - the referee should have been in his true colours - a Barcelona shirt!

Public spending cuts now, are a result of Brown's lack of prudence as Chancellor and PM.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but I do think that Blatter and Platini have a wish to see Barcelona (and their style of football) succeed

What happened to the other Champions League thread?

Chelsea squeezed through, making them look like world beaters in the process. I wonder what the record defeat ever recorded in a CL semi is? could be about to get broken

Cricket score anyone?

Come on, I'm sure Barcelona's defence won't be that bad....

Don't forget that with decent finishing Chelsea could - should - have scored at least four and Benfica probably another one or two.

Let's hope we don't get an incompetent Norwegian referee at Stamford Bridge this time.  Actually I'd settle for the one that controlled tonight's match - saw through the play-acting and gave the penalty when it was one.  A touch heavy on the yellow cards maybe but it kept the lid on proceedings.

The main problem will be playing the second leg in Spain.  I can see Chelsea winning at home but possibly not by enough to survive the Nou Camp.

A fair enough assessment.

Just in case Chelsea actually win the thing we need to finish third, otherwise it's another mindless season in the Europa League.

The thing is, We wont create half as many chances as we did against Benfica and Barcelona wont be as kind when they have created double what Benfica did. Our only hope is the fact that we are expected to get beat.

If we can't keep hold of the ball against a rather ordinary Portugese side with 10 men, then what hope have we really got against the other lot

Maybe, but Chelsea didn't play very well last night but still created a hat full of chances on the counter-attack.

IIRC Barcelona has a fantastic attack but their defence isn't that special.  Away goals will be important I feel - Barca will score at the Bridge for certain.
