Daffodils about 5 in high atm. Sadly looks like the new ones I planted in the lawn
Have not fared we'll. of the 30 I planted only 3 have come up....was waterlogged when
Put in, and I guess the ultra wet conditions have meant anaerobic conditions leading
To the bulbs rotting.
Pansies putting on a good show and new flush of cyclamen flowers.

My snowdrops are still in full flower and my Tete a tete daffs are just starting to open following three spring like days.

My garlic is now a foot high with the stems thickening nicely, so I think I'll get an earlier crop this year and certainly a lot more as I've planted it all over the garden in borders.  Just as well as we've almost eaten all my last year's crop.

Asparagus - I bought a plant yesterday but I don't really have room for more than one plant and will only get a couple of dozen spears from it.  Also, I've read that it doesn't like to be disturbed, so I doubt it will thrive in my border as a cropping plant and now I'm thinking buying it was a mistake.  I think I'm better off buying asparagus from the local farm when it's in season - I love it with hollandaise sauce.  Does anyone else grow asparagus and what is your experience of it.

DISASTER!!

I've just accidentally cut some stems at the base of a beautiful Montana that is just coming into bud! One of the stems is cut right through. Another one is half cut, with half the green fibres inside the woody outer layer still joined. Will this stem survive???? (We've "sealed" it lightly with sellotape to make it firmer and less likely to break further.)

Nick, I take it you mean a Clematis Montana.  They are very robust, which also gives them a reputation for being over invasive for smaller gardens.  There's a good chance the cut stem will survive and you did right to protect it as you have, though you may also need to splint it with a strong stick to give it more support.  Clematis generally respond well to hard pruning, so even if the stem doesn't survive, you should see new growth elsewhere.

Everything is looking fresh and green now and I don't think it will be long before the hawthorn blossoms.  I don't think my plum tree is going to blossom this year, though I only planted it last year.  The goji berries I planted last year are are looking healthy and my garlic is growing well.

I planted some chilli seeds, eggplant seeds and pak choi seeds last Thursday. The pak choi seeds showed themselves on Sunday and are already 2cms tall.

I'm not bothering with growing veg this year. Although we've got a decent sized garden, it's a bit too landscaped for a big veg patch (all the soil's covered in plum slate) so have grown in containers. Too late now to start and the results last year were poor:

Potatoes - got some form of disease, meaning all the plants died back, the crop wasn't bountiful, and most spubs had some scabbing

Cabbages - despite my best efforts, half the crop got munched to stalk by a plague of caterpillars (little green ones and big fat green ones)

Spouts - also hit by the caterpillars but not as much. I'd hoped to serve the crop on Xmas Day, but the remaining plants yielded about a pound of extra-small button sprouts.

Carrots - not a bad crop, but not as plentiful as the previous year

Leeks - the one success

I'd started growing to get the kids involved in gardening, but they're not really that interested.

Another attempt at the willow today for me, at least it is dry. I want tree down, it has ruined parts of the lawn

Grass and hedges cut next door Wednesday and Thursday, our grass has been cut twice this year has grown ankle height in a week. Hanging baskets around and about the area look pretty good.

It's incredible to note I still have a few daffodils flowering in my garden and a house in the village has a camellia in full flower, it's in full shade of a tree but still amazing when in previous mild years they can be done and dusted by March!
