So, what's it to be? A washout confirmation to the rest of the world of every British national weather stereotype, a fortnight of perfect sporting conditions with mild temperatures and fluffy clouds, or a joyous festival of summer under scorching sun?

This morning's models can't quite make up their mind. After a humid couple of days GFS washes out the opening ceremony, jubilee-style, and renders that fake rain superfluous. It then gives us summer 2012 weather for a few days before settling down. ECM gives us a warm muggy opening ceremony followed by a switch to cooler but pleasant conditions when the sports start.

It would be a shame if it's pouring with rain for the opening ceremony. That is the most watched event worldwide, and it would just confirm most people's (unfounded) suspicions that it always rains in London.

It's just as well Manchester isn't holding the Olympics!

Aren't the Olympic openning ceremonies all about playing in national stereotypes? In which case rain, with everyone in wellies and carrying brollies would be about right (followed by a stadium full of fog and the sounds of Big Ben perhaps with Sherlock Holmes lighting the gaslight).

Opening ceremony not looking good and while the runs change slightly, the theme remains the same.
Could be quite explosive

Do we need to ask? It's obviously going to be wall to wall sunshine, temps in mid 20s and a sackful of golds for team GB. You heard it here first.
