And the lack of sunshine as well and also not to forget - the gales.
Shocked that Philip's CET is still just 12.4. Will we even get to 13c?
Whatever, it does appear my prediction that we'd have the coolest June since 1991 has been quite good. It was pretty risky, so I'm relieved its come off.
What was the final result in 1991?
12.1.
Before that you have to go back to 1972 to find a sub 12c June (11.8)
Thanks! That is interesting. In 1972, I would have been 18, but not unnaturally I cannot recall the weather that month.
It is easy to recall when we had extreme winters, since they were rare and noteable, plus 1976 summer always stands out.
But a horribly cold June in 1972 - I guess I endured it, but I don't remember it.
I can remember June 1972 even though I was only 10. I recall these terribly cold days having to do athletics outside and it was bitter.
It was a cold month caused by frequent north and north westerly winds. It was dry as well as I recall.
Curously enough and I don't know why - but I can hardly remember June 1991 at all.
Phew .
Sounds about right to me though.

Cet 12.4C
and look at that rain and lack of sunshine.
Big difference with the official CET so far, at 13.1C:

-0.9C is nothing to write home about really, I doubt anybody would be able to tell the difference between a 20C day and a 21C day, for example!
It's more the rainfall / dullness that's notable rather than the temperatures IMO.
In 1972, I would have been born
Likewise
My CET estimate for Hadley stands at 12.80C after today and is expected to reach 13.36C by the end of the month. As I said some days back Gavin P's prediction for this month is looking excellent.
Thanks GW.
Makes a change.
Don't forget my prediction as well
CET's up to 13.3;
Presumably todays CET will take it above 13.5?

Gavin - Hadley is a day behind and has not updated for yesterday yet. It should rise a combined 0.5C over the past two days so we should see 13.8C up to today on the provisional Hadley.
The more accurate figure based on my calculations has a figure of 13.38C up to today. We just managed a 20C CET today for the first time this year.
Less warm for the final two days of the month meaning we should now end up at about 13.5C.
Against all odds Charmhills could just sneak the plaudits then?
Met Office figures to the 27th show sunshine at 104.2hrs for the UK as a whole. The dullest June on record was 115.8hrs in 1987. So we could still be on course for the dullest and wettest June on record.
Cool as well with temperatures about 1.4C below average in terms of maximum temperatures. The average maximum to the 27th for the UK is 15.5C. There have only been 8 cooler years since 1910 with 1991 being the most recent, followed by 1987.

Shocking stats all round then. Sums up whats been an awful month. And personally i dont think the second half has been too bad so that just shows how diabolical the first half was. Probably the worst fortnight of summer i can ever remember.
Thankfully the models for the first half of July are looking more encouraging than the first half of June so maybe July will get off to a better start.
Philip's updated to the 29th and is at 13.6;

I would suspect thats where it'll stay for the final day?
It might tick up to 13.7C Gavin - I have the CET increasing by about 0.05C today so it depends on the rounding as to whether it ticks up or not.
I still expect Hadley to finish around 13.5C
Final Hadley CET for June is 13.53C
Nobody had the correct prediction but Chamhills was the closest with 13.7C.
