What I don't understand is how the Raintoday website is showing that it should have been raining in my area from about 8.45pm

which it wasn't, it only started about 30minutes ago, at about 10pm.?

The latest precips does not look big and would clear away here very soon.  Can't see it lasting for 2 days which is very rare to get it in the winter months.

Well yet another forecast gone tits up down here already, the "heavy rain" predicted for SUNDAY has passed through already giving the grand total of 0.02 inches a day early! Forecast now mainly dry for sunday. I bet those people that rely on accuracy for planning and business are far from impressed.

Well no further rain since 2050 yesterday (just 0.02 inch) so i have to stand by my quote yesterday

you are quite right . i thought more rain might develop. the rain band is way further north than predicted and narrower too.not the most accurate of forecasts.

It's fair to say the models have had a bit of a bad day today - not quite what was forecast even as late as yesterday across many southern areas.

Certainly an exception to have remained dry, although I guess the extreme south has missed the worst of the rain.

http://www.weatheronline...&CONT=euro&SORT=2&INT=12

It may come back later in the form of showers I guess. Unfortunately across the middle of the country things are panning out as predicted, as they are for the northern half of the UK (luckily for us).

The BBC week ahead forecast made depressing viewing with temperatures only reaching the teens here for the first time in what will be ten days on Friday*. Across the board it looks cool and generally unsettled, although by no means raining everywhere all the time.

*For comparison the average daily max should be in the midterms here at this time of the year.

BBC weather; the best day tomorrow otherwise wet for the rest of the week with bands of rain and heavy downpours.

They cancelled it for here in Hook Road Arena this morning and it was a ruined opportunity to go there on a Monday as they do on Sunday mornings which I started last week, it a bit hectic since I have to leave the flat very early to drop by at my dad home and then go to car boot sales.  If wasn't cancelled I would able to go this morning direct from my dad home.

Rain spreading across the country. Early brightness in the east.Today:
Dry, chilly start in the north and east, but outbreaks of rain and breezy conditions in the southwest will slowly spread northeastwards, the rain heavy at times over southern Wales and England. Bright spells in Scotland but also some showers.Tonight:
Spells of rain or drizzle will continue in many parts, edging north into Scotland overnight. Clearer, drier spells for a time across southern England, but sharp showers possible after midnight.Wednesday:
A little warmer with some sunny spells but showers are likely, becoming heavy and thundery in places. More prolonged rain will push north across Scotland, most persistent in the east.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Rather cool, windy and very unsettled, with rain spreading across the country on Thursday. Further rain or heavy showers thereafter. Risk of gales around some coasts on Friday and Saturday.

UK Outlook for Saturday 9 Jun 2012 to Monday 18 Jun 2012:
Most areas will see outbreaks of rain and perhaps some strong winds during Saturday, but then a brief drier and brighter period is likely to follow for Sunday in some parts. Thereafter, unsettled conditions are likely to continue, giving a mixture of bright spells and showers with some longer outbreaks of rain at times. Some of the showers are likely to be heavy with hail and thunder possible, especially towards southern and eastern areas. Rather windy at first, but as winds ease towards the start of next week, showers may become slow moving, giving a risk of locally very high rainfall totals. Towards mid-June, there are some indications of slightly less unsettled weather, especially for southern parts. Temperatures continuing around normal, or occasionally below normal especially during the wetter spells.

Indications suggest that conditions may continue rather unsettled at first with showers or more persistent rain at times, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes. Towards the end of the month, there are signs that these drier and brighter periods may become more prolonged, especially in the south, with temperatures recovering to more typical values for June."
