thanks - just a quick reminder - the mid week thoughts page is a great idea

a lot can change in forecasting 1 week ahead - and on wednesday the weekend picture becomes clearer than a week before

I dont know whether you remember the old BBC forecasts in the days of the magnetic symbols - after the lunchtime news on wednesday afternoon - they always had a long-range forecast - this continued even after the electronic symbols were brought in Feb 1985

So your idea is very good - and follows in the tradition of what we had before

These forecasts have always been designed to play homage to the glory days of the BBC forecasts.

Thanks as always, Gavin. All back to normal then.  At least my lawn is appreciating it.

Predicting the weather is like making love to a beautiful woman - if you don't keep on top of things, or come up short, you might encounter hostile conditions later.

It's going to be fascinating to see which way May and June goes.

Cheers Gavin - Thanks. Good heavens what a week.

In many ways its rapidly becoming safe to say the drought is over.

This is more like an old fashioned cool and wet April.

I just hope it doesn't mean a bad summer thats all.

That's the first time for a long while your forecast has been a traditional UK type forecast with everything but the kitchen sink possible.

Well done Gavin. The work you put in on these forecasts each week is highly commendable and is always a true account of the weather that would be experienced from the charts at time of issue. Ever thought of joining the Met Office. They could do worse than have you on board.

Martin, thats high praise indeed from someone thats a great forecaster. Thanks very much.

As far as the Met goes, to be honest they couldn't afford me.

No, seriously, I'm not qualified to work with the Met Office, but what I do here and now at my website is the next best thing and I'm happy with the level I'm at.
