Looks fairly average to mild temps - cloudy and damp to me with air from the atlantic - not quite tropical maritime original source before modification but not far off

Shame we could not get the major snow event that the last 10 days of cold blocked weather deserves - but thats the way it goes - it would have been nice to see 4 inches of snow lasting on the ground for a few days with a light top-up

This really is a great idea - and puts a whole new perspective on your outstanding contributions on your weather channel

As you have suggested ideas for look back

I would say winter 1981-1982 for sure - in particular the Midlands snowstorm of Jan 1982 and the winters of 1978-79, severe spells of Jan 1987 and Feb 1991 - take your pick from that selection

Closer to summer - the summer of 1976, and how we got the record max temps in August 1990 and 2003 would be nice

I seem to recall that on the 10th August 2003 there was a massive cold front over the country - when the record was achieved in Faversham in Kent - it was so massively cooler in northern england - can you check this out possibly?

Of course theres also the October 87 storm and the winter of 1963.

Plenty to look at, but I'll only be doing these infrequently or I'll soon be running out of things to look at.
