Liverpool have recieved a bid of £28million from Barcelona for Javier Mascherano which indicates that Cesc Fabregas will be staying at Arsenal for at least one more season. I'm not so sure about this. Spurs rushed to do a contract extension for Modric because Arsenal reportedly tabled a bid for him. Wenger has history here (despite claiming Modric was too lightweight for the Premier League) having been outbid by Spurs originally.

Anyway, the question is, why launch a bid for Modric is Fabregas is staying. It doesn't compute.

I should have been clearer. Spurs got wind (reportedly) of a bid from Arsenal for Modric. You will remember that they were outbid by Spurs for Modric's services last time.

Yes I see what you are getting at, the Bara bid for Macherano I have heard in a few places, that would not surprise, he would be one 3 or 4 departures this Summer

That would surprise me as well, a total London lad moving up North.....not too sure, maybe Arsenal will get rid of Asharvin and buy Cole?

Mascherano's been angling for a move to Spain for the past 12-18 months and had a poor season, often looking disinterested. But hey, at least we've got Lucas

Unless the Yank Muppets sell Liverpool within the next month, we're doomed. And that quick sale just isn't going to happen, even if the greedy tossrags revised the price to a more realistic level. Another seaosn of failure will just drive the pricce down further, make it more likely that the marquee players leave, which worsens our competitiveness, drives the price down, etc, etc, etc.

Just sell, FFS!!!!!

Just to make you feel beter, it looks like Arsenal are now favourites to get Joe Cole. If that's the case then I think you will have improved your squad - even with the departure of Fabregas.

I don't think CF is as stroppy as Berbatov though, he might well give Arsenal one more year

Sol Campbell has opened talks with Celtic, might be a good move for him. Alan Thompson has gone to join N Lennon at Celtic.
