Parts of the parched south will see rain today, and in some locations amounts could be significant. Tomorrow and Friday are looking mostly dry, but a major change is forecast to develop during the Bank Holiday weekend as unsettled weather returns. All areas can expect to see rain at times.

Outbreaks of rain in southern and central counties ease this morning, but further thundery showers are likely this afternoon in southeastern and possibly central England. Some heavy bursts of rain are likely in places, bringing significant amounts to some areas. Further north it will remain dry with sunny spells.

Tonight: Showers in the south will fade away, leaving dry conditions across most of the UK, although there could be some patchy rain near the east coast. It will be rather chilly where clear periods develop.
Tomorrow: Patchy spells of rain near the east coast clear southwards, leaving dry conditions in all areas. Cloud amounts vary, but the warmest and sunniest periods are expected in the southwest. In central and eastern counties it will feel rather cool where cloud builds.

Friday is expected to be dry, with a good deal of warm sunshine. Over the weekend the weather turns more unsettled. A band of rain pushes eastwards on Saturday. On Sunday it could turn very windy in the north, and there is a risk of gales in the northwest. Showers are likely in western counties, with more persistent outbreaks of rain in Scotland. The driest and warmest weather is forecast to be in central and eastern England.
