Showery rain will affect parts of the UK today and tomorrow, but many areas remain dry. Dry conditions are expected to return on Thursday and Friday. However, a major change to unsettled weather is forecast to develop over the weekend. This pattern is likely to continue into next week, bringing many places their first significant rainfall in a long time.

Scattered showers develop today, mostly in Wales, western England and Northern Ireland. Many places miss them and have fine weather. It will become warm in sunny periods.

Tonight, showery rain will affect southern and central Britain, with some heavy bursts possible in the southwest. Elsewhere, it will be dry with clear periods.
Tomorrow, showers will continue in southern and central regions, and a few could be heavy and thundery. The north will have a dry and bright day. It will feel warm where sunny spells develop, but cool in the wetter areas.

Thursday and Friday are expected to be dry, with a good deal of warm sunshine.
Over the weekend the weather is set to become much more unsettled. All areas could see showers or longer spells of rain, so it’s not looking great for the bank holiday period. The wettest conditions are likely in the north and west. This mixed pattern is expected to continue into next week.
