There will be more fine weather in the coming days, but in the longer term there are signs of a change. Computer models are suggesting with increasing confidence that high pressure will decline during the last third of May, leading to a return to a more changeable pattern. This would increase the likelihood of showers or even longer spells of rain.

UKV, Friday 16th May [Tap animation to toggle cities]
Fine weather continues through the weekend into the early part of next week as high pressure remains dominant. It will be cooler near the east coast, but elsewhere it stays rather warm.
In the longer term there are growing signs of a change. During the last third of May high pressure is forecast to decline, leading to an increased likelihood of areas of low pressure beginning to move towards the UK. These could bring the potential for heavy showers and longer outbreaks of rain.
