Thundery downpours bring large amounts of rain to parts of the UK today, but they will be hit and miss. Tomorrow there may still be scattered showers, but the emphasis returns to more settled weather as high pressure builds back in.
Issued 6th May 2025
Much of the UK has warm spells of sunshine today, but it will be a very mixed picture. In Wales, as well as southern, central and northwestern England, there will be thundery downpours. These could bring large and potentially disruptive amounts of rain in places, but they will be very hit and miss. There will also be some patchy outbreaks of rain in Northern Ireland and western Scotland for a time.
Temperatures range from 17°C to a very warm 27°C. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight the thundery showers steadily fade away, leaving dry conditions across the UK. Temperatures remain in double figures in much of the country.
Tomorrow a few showers are likely to return in the south, but they are expected to be more isolated than today. Most of the UK will remain fine and warm or very warm.

Fine weather continues in the following days as high pressure remains dominant. It could turn cooler in the northeast, but elsewhere it stays warm. At this stage, the expectation is for fine conditions to continue through the rest of the week.
