The warmth will continue to build through the middle part of the week, with the peak of it likely to be on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 20°sC and a few computer model runs are showing 30°C being reached. Were that to happen it would be the earliest the UK has recorded 30°C.

Warmest day of the year

Virtually the whole of the UK will have a dry day with sunny periods. The exception is northern Scotland, where thicker cloud could bring light rain at times. It will be very warm for late April.

Temperatures range from 14°C in the far north west to 26°C in the south. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight it will be dry across the UK. Despite extensive clear periods, temperatures remain in double figures in places.

Tomorrow brings a repeat performance. If anything it will be a tad warmer than today, with 28°C perhaps being reached in the south. In the north temperatures won't be as high, but they will still be well above average.

Change for the Bank Holiday weekend

Thursday is expected to bring the warmest weather of the year so far. In the south temperatures could reach 29°C, and even 30°C isn't out of the question. However, a band of cloud and light rain will start to push southwards across Scotland, accompanied by cooler conditions.

In the following days the cooler conditions steadily push southwards. There is some uncertainty about the timing of the transition, and it could stay quite warm in the south until Sunday. Despite the lower temperatures there will still be a lot of dry weather around.
