After a cold start temperatures rise quickly, and this afternoon it will feel quite warm in southern and central regions. Dry and bright conditions develop across the UK today. After a cold start with frost in some areas temperatures will rise quickly, making it feel quite warm in the afternoon sunshine.

Tonight, clear spells will allow temperatures to dip sharply. A widespread frost is likely in the northern half of the UK, with patchy ground frost possible elsewhere.

Tomorrow, it remains dry and will be warmer than today, with temperatures potentially reaching 19°C in the south.

Warmer but wetter weather

On Friday a change begins to take place. Showery outbreaks of rain push into southwestern Britain and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, it remains dry and in sunny spells it will feel warm. The more changeable weather continues on Saturday, bringing the possibility of showers or longer spells of rain almost anywhere. Drier conditions are likely to start returning from the west on Sunday.
