The UK will have a rather cold weekend with patchy spells of rain and hill snow in places. Frost will develop readily overnight in areas where clear periods develop. Showery spells of rain affect much of England and Wales today, but they will become increasingly light and patchy. Over high ground sleet or wet snow is possible at times. Northern Ireland will be mostly dry and bright. Scotland has sunny spells too, but there will be wintry showers.
Temperatures range from 4°C in the north to 8°C in the south. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, showers continue in England and Wales, possibly becoming heavier again in the south east by the morning. In Scotland and Northern Ireland clear periods lead to a widespread frost.
Tomorrow, showery outbreaks of rain push eastwards across England and Wales. They are likely to be the heaviest in central areas and over high ground sleet and wet snow is possible. Scotland has sunny spells and scattered wintry showers. Northern Ireland should be mostly dry and bright. Rather cold.

The first half of next week is expected to be quite cold. There will be a good deal of dry weather but further showers are expected and at times they turn wintry, especially over high ground. Frost will form readily in areas where clear periods develop.
