Temperatures will be taking a tumble in the next few days as a plunge of Arctic air sweeps down across the UK. Ground frosts could become widespread during the middle of the week, especially in the north. Patchy spells of rain in central and eastern counties steadily clear to leave dry conditions across the UK. There will be sunny intervals, but in the north west cloud builds and outbreaks of rain feed in from the Atlantic this afternoon.
Temperatures range from 12°C in the far north to 19°C in the south. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, a band of rain pushes southwards across the northern half of the UK. To its north cool and showery conditions develop. Southern and central regions remain mostly dry.
Tomorrow, the band of rain continues moving southwards, reaching southern counties of England in the afternoon. Brighter and showery conditions follow and it turns noticeably cooler.

The next few days bring chilly conditions and there is a risk of ground frost developing quite widely during the nights. Showers are likely to be widespread early on, but it should turn drier from the west. However, by Friday the risk of rain returns to the north west.
