Temperatures are expected to peak between 33°C and 35°C today which would make it the hottest day of the year so far. High humidity levels will accompany the heat, creating uncomfortable conditions. Also, thunderstorms in northern Britain could lead to disruption. Issued 6th August 2024
Heavy and thundery outbreaks of rain push eastwards across the northern half of Britain today. They should clear by mid afternoon to leave sunny periods in all regions, with just the chance of a few thundery showers developing in the south.
It will be warm generally, but the really hot conditions affect central and eastern England where temperatures reach between 32°C to 35°C. Therefore, it is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far and high humidity levels will make it very uncomfortable for many people. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, patchy outbreaks of rain push into the north west. In other areas it remains dry and in the south it will be very muggy.
Tomorrow, outbreaks of rain in northern and western areas slowly push southeastwards. They become increasingly fragmented and showery, reaching the south west, Wales and northern England through the afternoon. Areas to their south and east have another very warm or hot day.

The following days bring mixed weather. All regions could see showers or longer spells of rain, but the wettest conditions are likely to be in the north and west. Temperatures will be lower than recently, although in southern and central areas it remains rather warm and there should be a reasonable amount of fine weather.
