Computer models are painting a very mixed picture for the rest of July. Although forecasting more than about a week ahead in the UK remains very challenging, at the present time there is no indication of very warm or hot conditions becoming established. Issued 9th July 2024
Outbreaks of rain associated with an area of low pressure centred over the North Sea will continue to affect north eastern Britain today. However, they steadily become lighter and patchier. Other areas have a mix of showers and brighter spells, with the best of the sunshine in the north west and south of Britain.
Temperatures range from 13°C in northern England to 22°C in brighter areas. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, showers and the remnants of rain in the northeast will gradually clear. All regions then have dry conditions, but by the morning an area of rain will be pushing into the south west.
Tomorrow, outbreaks of rain spread northeastwards across England and Wales, becoming heavy in the west. Scotland and Northern Ireland have a mix of sunny spells and showers. Cool in the wet areas, but pleasantly warm in the north.

During the middle of the week, low pressure systems will keep the weather unsettled across all regions, with showers or longer spells of rain possible. However, there's a chance of high pressure building from Thursday to Friday, bringing warmer and more settled conditions to much of the UK. This respite may be short lived, as computer models suggest wet and windy weather could return by the weekend.
