A change to a more unsettled period of weather is underway as an area of low pressure and its frontal systems move in from the Atlantic. Therefore, most of the UK will see wet conditions at times today and the rest of the week will bring further showers or longer spells of rain. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

UK weather discussion

A major change in the weather is now underway as an area of low pressure moves in from the Atlantic. Weather fronts associated with it push eastwards across the UK today bringing outbreaks of rain. The wettest conditions will be in the west, with East Anglia and the south eastern corner remaining dry until late in the day. As well as wet, it will be unseasonably windy and in the south west gales are expected for a time.

Temperatures remain below the norm for June. In the wet areas it will be very cool, but in eastern England values could reach 19°C before the cloud and rain arrive. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, the persistent rain is replaced by more showery conditions in most areas, although it is likely to continue in Scotland. It remains quite windy, but temperatures will be significantly higher than recent nights.

Tomorrow the rain clears from Scotland to leave sunny spells in all regions. However, there will be showers which could turn heavy and thundery in southern and central regions. In much of the UK it will be quite windy and rather cool, although in eastern England temperatures are likely to be close to the norm.

Conditions remain changeable over the next few days. Initially, all areas can expect showers or longer spells of rain. However, the showers probably become more scattered later and temperatures continue to slowly climb.
