The coming week brings mixed weather. In the south high pressure will keep it mainly dry and temperatures will often be close to or a little above the norm. In the north there is a greater risk of rain and at times incursions of colder arctic air lead to a risk of wintry showers. Monday starts with a few showers in Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry and locally there has been a touch of frost.
Through the day it remains dry across England and Wales. Cloud amounts vary, but there should be a reasonable amount of brightness. In Scotland there will be showers this morning and some of them have a wintry flavour. This afternoon cloud builds in the north and outbreaks of rain push into the north west. Strong winds in the north east steadily ease.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) to 10C (50F). See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain push southwards and become increasingly patchy. Clearer skies follow and in the north wintry showers develop.
Tomorrow morning any remaining rain in the south should quickly clear. All regions then have bright spells, but in the northern half of the UK there will be wintry showers. In Scotland they could be heavy and many of them fall as sleet or snow. Temperatures close to the average in the south and below it in the north.
During Wednesday a band of rain stretches across Northern Ireland and central Britain. Areas to its north have sunny spells and wintry showers. To its south it will be mostly dry and there are likely to be some bright interludes.
Through Thursday a band of wet weather clears eastwards. Outbreaks of rain could be heavy in the north, but in the south they are forecast to be light and patchy.
During the rest of the week high pressure should keep it mainly dry in the south. In the north it remains more mixed and through the weekend it could turn colder with wintry showers returning.
