A band of heavy rain moves eastwards across the UK today and it will be very windy too. Brighter skies follow but there will be heavy showers in the west. Things remain changeable through the rest of the week with further spells of rain moving across the UK. However, a change is expected next week as high pressure begins to bring more settled conditions.
Thursday starts with showers in western Britain. Elsewhere it is dry and chilly.
Through the day a band of heavy rain pushes eastwards across much of the UK and it is accompanied by strong winds. By the early evening it will be affecting East Anglia and the south east. Brighter skies follow, but there will be showers in the north and west. Gales or even severe gales are possible in western coastal counties.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 13C (55F) near to the south coast. See the rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight the rain clears to leave clear periods in all regions. However, showers become heavy in the north and west. Staying blustery.
Tomorrow brings sunny spells and in the eastern half of the UK it probably remains dry. In the north and west scattered showers continue, and later in the day cloud builds in Northern Ireland. Temperatures similar to recent days.
During Saturday wet weather pushes across much of the UK, although in eastern England it may remain dry until the late evening. Windy with gales in the north and west.
Computer models are suggesting that outbreaks of rain could linger in the south east for much of Sunday. In southern and central regions it may be overcast but mainly dry. The northern half of the UK has sunny spells and scattered showers.
Early next week high pressure starts having more influence. It leads to drier conditions, particularly in the south and east. In the north west the risk of wet and windy periods remains greater. Temperatures generally becoming close to the seasonal average.
