Tonight winds strengthen in the north and heavy outbreaks of rain spread across much of the north west. Elsewhere it remains dry.

Tomorrow a band of wet and windy weather pushes southeastwards across all areas, although it may not reach the far south east and East Anglia until the late afternoon. The rain turns heavy and gales are possible in much of the UK, but the strongest winds are likely to be in exposed coastal locations. Brighter and showery conditions follow from the northwest. Feeling cold generally.

Mostly dry weekend

Saturday is looking showery in northern and western areas. In the south and east it should be mainly dry. Temperatures will be close to the seasonal average, but blustery winds make it feel chilly.

Sunday brings showery rain to the north west. In other areas it is expected to be dry. Cloud amounts vary, but there should be a reasonable amount of sunshine.

During Monday an area of rain is expected to push eastwards across central and northern areas. In the south it should be dry and possibly bright.

The latest guidance is pointing towards a good deal of dry and quite warm weather during Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures may climb into the low 20Cs. Things could turn more mixed again by Thursday, particularly in the north.
