Sunday starts dry. Through the day long sunny periods develop in central and eastern areas where it will be extremely hot again.
In the north and west scattered thundery downpours break out and in places they could produce large amounts of rain in a very short time. Details are uncertain, but computer models are indicating the possibility of some of the heaviest rain being in north eastern Scotland. Despite that, many places probably miss them and remain dry.
Temperatures range from 20C (68F) in the far north to close to an exceptionally hot 35C (95F) in southern and central counties. See the rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight downpours continue to affect northern and western parts of the UK. Elsewhere it remains dry and warm.

Tomorrow persistent outbreaks of rain affect much of Scotland and they could turn very heavy in places. Thundery showers continue in western parts of the UK and during the afternoon storms push into East Anglia and the south east. Cooler in the north and west. Very warm or hot in sunny spells in central and eastern England.
Tuesday is looking mixed. Showers or thunderstorms extend over much of England and Wales, but warm sunny periods are still possible in southern central counties. The north of the UK has patchy outbreaks of rain.
During Wednesday showery outbreaks of rain are expected to clear southeastwards. Brighter and fresher conditions follow from the northwest.
Through Thursday a band of rain may push across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Central and eastern areas should be dry, sunny and quite warm.
