Regents Park. Hot and sunny weather in August. Posted by brian gaze

The heatwave is likely to peak today and temperatures could reach an exceptionally hot 36C (97F). Tomorrow things begin to change as pressure falls and the risk of showers or thunderstorms increases. That trend continues early next week, but there is uncertainty about how much rain there will be in the drought stricken areas.

Heat easing next week

During Monday showers and thunderstorms become more widespread. Despite that many places could stay dry and in sunny spells it will still be hot. Temperatures are expected to peak at over 30C (86F).

Tuesday is looking mixed. Showers or thunderstorms affect much of the UK, but very warm or hot sunny periods are still possible in southern and central counties.

Wednesday probably brings further thundery showers. Cloud and sunshine amounts are very uncertain.
