Dry and sunny weather combined with increasingly high temperatures sums things up for much of the UK. The heatwave is set to last all week with temperatures climbing above 30C (86F). As we head towards the weekend the heat could become extreme once more with some computer models suggesting 36C (97F) may be hit on Saturday.

Tuesday starts with patchy outbreaks of rain in the northern half of Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry.
The vast majority of the UK has another completely dry day with long sunny periods in southern and central regions. The north has more cloud and in northwestern Scotland there could be a few spots of rain. Southern and central regions have heatwave conditions and even in the north east of Britain it will be warm. Cooler in the far north west.
Temperatures range from 16C (61F) in the north west to 30C (86F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight most of the UK will be dry with long clear periods. In northern and western Scotland there could be some light rain or drizzle.

Heatwave but then a chance of rain?

Tomorrow will be mostly dry and sunny, although there could be some patchy bursts of rain in the far north west. Warm or very warm in much of the north. Hot in southern and central Britain where temperatures could reach 32C (90F).
Thursday is expected to be fine over virtually the whole of the country as the heatwave continues. Temperatures continue to climb and in the southern half of Britain they could hit 33C (91F).
On Friday it is a case of rinse and repeat. The whole of the UK should be dry and in the the south temperatures could reach 35C (95F).
Saturday brings more of the same. Once again temperatures are likely to push into the mid 30Cs.
