High pressure increasingly dominant

Patchy spells of rain affect the north today but in southern and central regions it will be dry. Through the next few days high pressure keeps things settled and it will become warm. Forecast details for next week remain uncertain, but there continue to be indications of it becoming hot, at least for a time.

Wednesday starts wet in the north west. Elsewhere it is a mostly dry picture.

Through the day outbreaks of rain continue to affect the north west and they could extend into other northern areas at times. Southern and central Britain will be dry with sunny spells. Windy in the north.

Temperatures range from 13C (55F) in the north west to a warm 26C (78F) in southern and central England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow is looking dry and bright in much of the UK, but outbreaks of rain continue to be a risk in northern and western Scotland. Warm in southern and eastern Britain.

Mostly fine outlook

Friday should be dry, warm and sunny in the southern half of the UK with temperatures peaking close to 27C (81F). In the north there could be further spells of rain.

Saturday should be mostly dry, although it could turn wet in the far north west. After a cloudy start in the south there should be a good deal of sunshine in all areas. Generally warm.

Sunday sees the fine conditions continue on Sunday. In the south it will be very warm.
