During the coming week high pressure builds from the southwest and it becomes increasingly dominant. Therefore, much of the UK stays mainly dry, although in the north west things remain more unsettled. Temperatures rise and by the weekend it could be very warm in the south and east.

Monday starts with showers in the north and west. Elsewhere it is mainly dry.
Through the day showers increasingly become confined to Scotland. Sunny spells develop more widely than in recent days, but there will still be quite a lot of cloud around. Windy in the north.
Temperatures range from 13C (55F) in the north west to 23C (73F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight patchy spells of rain push into Northern Ireland and north western England. Scattered showers also continue in Scotland. Other parts of the UK stay dry.

Tomorrow showery rain in northern England pushes down into central areas and fades away. Another batch of wet weather moves into the north west of the UK during the second half of the day. Other parts of the UK remain dry.
Through Wednesday showery outbreaks in central and northern regions steadily clear away, although it could remain wet in the north west. The south probably stays dry and bright.
Thursday is looking dry and bright in much of the UK, but outbreaks of rain continue to be a risk in northern and western Scotland. Warm in southern and eastern Britain.
Friday should be dry, warm and sunny in much of the UK with temperatures in the south close to 27C (81F). Things remain more unsettled in the far north west.
