The UK has a mix of sunny spells and showers today. During the next few days the changeable theme continues. However, there continue to be signs of it turning drier and warmer next week.

Thursday starts with showery rain in the north and west. Elsewhere it is mainly dry.

Through the day showers become widespread, and some are likely to be heavy and thundery. There will be sunny spells too, with the best of them possibly in the west this afternoon. 

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) to 21C (70F). See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow the showers return, but during the second half of the day they increasingly become confined to the north east. The rest of Britain should be mainly dry, but outbreaks of rain spread into Northern Ireland.

Mixed weekend weather

During Saturday a band of patchy rain steadily clears eastwards. Brighter and showery conditions follow behind it into western and central areas. Warmest in the south east.

Sunday is looking mainly dry in southern and central parts of the UK. The north has a mix of sunny spells and showers.

Monday may be dry and warm in the south. Showery rain is possible in central and northern areas.
