Becoming cool and showery

Scattered showers develop today but most of the UK remains dry and bright. Tomorrow the showers become more widespread and some could be heavy. Temperatures will be dipping in the next few days and at times it will be unseasonably cool for late May, particularly in the north east.

Saturday starts dry and cool. Through the day scattered showers affect eastern Scotland, East Anglia and the far south east. Elsewhere it should remain dry with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells. Breezy and rather cool.

Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the far north to 20C (68F) near to the south coast. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight many places remain dry. However, scattered showers push southward and over the Scottish mountains they may turn to sleet or snow.

Tomorrow showers become more widespread. Some of them could be heavy, particularly in southern and central counties. and some of push into eastern Scotland. There is likely to be more cloud than today, but some bright spells are likely. Feeling very cool, especially in the north and east.

Showery early next week

Monday brings sunny spells and showers. Over higher parts of the Scottish mountains sleet or snow is possible. Temperatures generally on the low side for the time of the year and in the north east it will be unseasonably cool.

The showery theme continues Tuesday. Temperatures remain below the norm for the end of May.

Wednesday brings more of the same. In southern Britain temperatures may be a little higher than recently.
