Mostly fine and warm today

Most of the UK has a fine day but tonight heavy showers push northwards. Tomorrow the risk of showers becomes focused on the north with warm sunny periods developing in the south. Early next week the changeable continues.

Saturday starts with showery rain in the far north. Elsewhere it is dry.

Through the day warm sunny periods develop across most of the UK. In northern Scotland patchy outbreaks of rain continue for a time, but it brightens up this afternoon.

Temperatures range from 14C (57F) in the north west to a warm 23C (73F) in eastern England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight and thundery showers spread across southern and central regions. There could also be some on the north west. Other parts of the UK remain dry.

Tomorrow showers continue in the northern half of the UK. Across southern and central regions sunny spells develop and it becomes warm. Temperatures peak at close to 24C (75F).

During Monday showers push northwards and some of them are likely to be heavy. However, in the southern half of Britain sunny spells develop and it becomes warm.

Tuesday is currently looking fine and very warm in much of the UK. The greatest risk of showery rain is in the north west. Computer models are suggesting temperatures could reach 27C (81F) in central and eastern counties.

Forecast details for Wednesday are very uncertain. At the moment there are suggestions of showery rain moving eastwards. In central and eastern counties it could turn heavy.
