Through the day showery spells of rain and hill snow in the north continue. The driest and brightest conditions are likely to be to the south of London. It remains windy with gales in coastal counties.

Rather cold. Temperatures range from a very cold 1C (34F) in the north to 7C (45F) in the south. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Changeable and milder end to the week

Friday is looking mainly dry in central and eastern regions. In the west there will be showers and some of them could be wintry in the north. Rather cold.

Through the weekend the changeable theme continues. All regions can expect dry periods but there will be showers or longer spells of rain too. In the north it remains chilly but elsewhere it turns a good deal milder. On Sunday temperatures could reach 14C (57F) in the south.

Early next week things remain mixed. The wettest conditions probably become focused on the north west as high pressure starts to exert more influence and winds increasingly come from a southwesterly direction. Generally mild.
