Monday starts with outbreaks of rain in northern and western Britain. Over northern hills there is sleet or snow in places. Elsewhere it is dry.

Through the morning and early afternoon the rain and hill snow clears eastwards. Brighter conditions follow but showers develop and over high ground some will be wintry.

Rather cold. Temperatures range from 3C (37F) in the north to 9C (48F) near to the south coast. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.
