Unsettled weather is set to continue through the coming week and temperatures will often be a little below the seasonal average. Tomorrow Storm Barra brings the likelihood of gales or severe gales to much of the UK. Over high ground in the north there is the potential for heavy snow.

Monday starts with outbreaks of rain in northern and western Britain. Over northern hills there is sleet or snow in places. Elsewhere it is dry.
Through the morning and early afternoon the rain and hill snow clears eastwards. Brighter conditions follow but showers develop and over high ground some will be wintry.
Rather cold. Temperatures range from 3C (37F) in the north to 9C (48F) near to the south coast. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.
Tonight wintry showers continue for a time but later in the night they fade away. Cloud builds from the west and by the end of the night outbreaks of rain begin to push into the south west. Cold with a widespread frost.

Tomorrow Storm Barra brings the potenital for severe weather to much of the UK. Wet and very windy weather pushes northeastwards across and over high ground in the north sleet or snow is expected. Brighter and showery conditions follow from the south west. In southern and western coastal counties severe gales are likely. Cold in central and northern counties, but somewhat milder in the south.
Wednesday brings a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers. Over high ground in the north they could be wintry. Windy and cold.
Through the second half of the week changeable weather continues. All regions can expect dry periods but there will be showers or longer spells of rain too. Temperatures fluctuate and at times it will be chilly. Sleet or snow remains possible over high ground in the north.
