Late Autumn. Posted by hilett1978

The meteorological autumn finishes today and despite the recent cold weather it has been a mild season. Things are currently mixed with outbreaks of rain in the north and west but drier conditions in the south and east. The changeable theme continues through the coming days and it will turn colder again..

Issued 30th November 2021

Tomorrow brings a mix of sunny spells and showers. Most of the showers will be in coastal counties and the north where they could turn wintry, particularly over high ground. Windy and rather cold.

Changeable and rather cold

Thursday is expected to be cold and there could be wintry showers in the east for a time. Nonetheless, most of the UK has a good deal of dry and bright weather. Later on it turns wet in Northern Ireland and over high ground sleet or snow is possible.

During Friday outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow push eastwards. Most of the snow is likely to be over high ground in the northern half of the UK and it generally turns back to rain before clearing away. All regions should be mostly dry by the  afternoon. Rather cold.

Through the weekend and into the early part of next week changeable weather is expected to continue. All regions can expect dry periods but there will be showers or longer spells of rain too. Temperatures fluctuate and at times it will be quite cold. Sleet or snow remains possible over high ground in the north.
