Wednesday starts damp in the north west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry and in the south east it is quite chilly.

Through the day drizzle or light spells of rain continue in Scotland and northern most counties in England. There may also be a few showers in central and southern regions. However, most places miss them and in other areas it stays dry. Cloud amounts vary, with the brightest skies probably in Wales and the south west.

Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the far north west of the UK to 17C (63F) in England. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Colder in the north

Early on Friday a band of light and patchy rain clears southwards. It should then be dry and bright across the UK. Quite cold in Scotland.

Saturday starts with a patchy frosty in northern and possibly eastern Britain. Through the day outbreaks of rain extend over Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England. Elsewhere it should stay dry.

During Sunday outbreaks of rain push southeastwards across England and Wales. They become patchier and much of the south probably remains dry. Another band of rain spreads across the north west of the UK and it is accompanied by strengthening winds. Sunny spells in the south could make it feel quite warm.

Early next week it turns unsettled in all regions. Showers or longer spells of rain move in from the west and it could also become very windy at times.
