Unsettled weather continues

Showers will be focused on the north today, but tonight outbreaks of rain associated with Storm Evert move northeastwards across England and Wales. Strengthening winds will add to the unseasonable feel. Tomorrow the wet weather clears eastwards and showery conditions return.

Thursday starts wet in parts of the north but across the south it is mainly dry. Through the day showery rain continues to affect northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Elsewhere it will be mainly dry with sunny spells, but later in the afternoon outbreaks of rain push into south western England. Quite windy.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to 23C (73F) in East Anglia. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain push northeastwards across England and Wales. Some heavy bursts are likely and it becomes very windy in the south west with gales in coastal districts. Disruption is possible. The north has a mix of clear spells and showers.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain in the southern half of the UK steadily clear eastwards. All regions then have a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers. Windy in the south and cool generally.

Mixed weekend

During Saturday showers continue in southern and central England. In the north east it could be overcast with patchy spells of light rain. Other areas should be mostly dry and bright. Temperatures on the low side in much of the UK, although in the south east and East Anglia it should be a little warmer.

Sunday brings sunny spells and scattered showers to the northern half of the UK. In the south the showers will be more frequent and some of them could be heavy. Rather cool.

Early next week the changeable theme continues. All regions could have showers or more prolonged outbreaks of rain.
