Warm sunny spells and showers

[Updated 06:30 26/07/2021]

Fine early morning. Posted by brian gaze

After the recent heatwave the weather will feel very different this week. Low pressure is set to dominate so there is an ongoing risk of showers or even longer spells of rain. Today it will be warm in sunny spells, but temperatures drop in the coming days.

Monday starts with a few showers in the far south east. Elsewhere it is mostly dry. Through the day showers bubble up, with the heaviest ones in the south and north. However, many places miss them and warm sunny spells develop widely.

Temperatures range from 19C (66F) in the south to 27C (81F). See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Changeable and cool

Wednesday is looking cool across the UK. England, Wales and Northern Ireland have a mix of sunny spells and showers. More prolonged spells of rain are likely to affect Scotland. Windy, especially in Wales and southern England.

Thursday will be another showery day for many and there is a risk of longer spells of rain pushing eastwards across southern counties. Temperatures generally a little below the seasonal average.

Changeable weather continues through the rest of the week. All regions could have showers or more prolonged outbreaks of rain. In sunny spells it feels pleasantly warm, but temperatures generally will be a little below the average.
