Drier and brighter weather

The sun returns to southern counties today, but the outlook remains a mixed one. Showery outbreaks of rain affect much of the north during tomorrow and Thursday. Later in the week heavy showers are likely in all regions.

Tuesday starts wet to the south of London. Elsewhere it is dry. This morning the rain steadily clears from the far south to leave dry and bright conditions in all regions. Through the afternoon cloud and outbreaks of rain push into the north west of the UK. Feeling warmer than recently.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F)  to 20C (68F). See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain move southwards across the northern half of the country. Southern and central regions remain dry. Very cool for the time of year in the south.

Tomorrow southern, central and eastern England stay dry. The sunniest conditions will be in the south east and East Anglia. In Wales, Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland there will be showery rain. Feeling warm in sunny areas.

Mixed outlook

During Thursday outbreaks of rain push across Scotland and Northern Ireland. England and Wales have scattered showers and bright spells. Generally quite warm.

Friday is expected to bring sunny spells, but there will be showers as well. In central an eastern England they may be heavy and thundery. Feeling warm in the sun.

The weekend is looking mixed. There should be some pleasantly warm spells of sunshine. However, heavy showers or more persistent spells of rain remain a risk.
