Thursday begins dry and there is a widespread frost. In much of the UK temperatures have fallen below freezing point overnight. Through the day showers push southwestwards across East Anglia and south eastern England. A few bubble up in other areas too, but there will be a good deal of dry weather. Sunny periods develop in much of the country, although there is likely to be quite a lot of cloud in central and eastern England.
Maximum temperatures range from a cold 9C (48F) in the south east to 15C (59F) locally in Northern Ireland and Scotland. See the rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight showers fade away and a widespread frost returns. The lowest temperatures are expected to be in the north and particularly the Scottish glens.

14 day UK weather forecast
Tomorrow brings a few showers, but most places remain dry. The sunniest conditions will be in central and eastern England. In the west cloud builds and later in the day outbreaks of rain push into the Western Isles and possibly Northern Ireland.
During Saturday spells of rain move across Northern Ireland and into western Scotland. The rest of the UK has a dry day. Central and eastern counties have the brightest conditions.
Through Sunday patchy outbreaks of rain affect much of the north and west. The south and east stay mostly dry.
During the first half of next week weather fronts slowly edge southeastwards. Outbreaks of rain associated with them become patchier and amounts in central and south eastern England are expected to be small. Once they clear away high pressure builds back in from the west. It brings the prospect of another another settled and dry period.
